People are saying that this is perfectly fine and normal and exactly the same as rasing chickens and pigs and cows.

Let me make it clear to you that it is not.
We raise chickens and pigs and cows for food. We need them to survive. We slaughter them and eat them and we use their left-overs in sensible ways such as the skin of cows as leather for making shoes. We kill them out of necessity and then we make sure that nothing of them goes to waste. That is a form of respect. We make sure these animals do not die meaningless.
What is happening to these stingrays is unacceptable. These animals are being bred simply so you can have a fancy pair of shoes. That sickens me. You do not kill living beings so you can have a luxury item that will pass as soon as fashion changes next season.
It’s outright disturbing to think we have the right to fuck with other beings and their DNA simply for our own temporary glorification and social status. You do not own the world and its inhabitants.

YOU WOULDN’T SUPPORT PEOPLE KILLING BABY SEALS FOR THEIR FUR, WHY WOULD YOU SUPPORT PEOPLE KILLING STINGRAYS FOR YOUR SHOES?
